On January 15, 2006, Governor Timothy M. Kaine appointed John W. Marshall to the position of Secretary of Public Safety.

As Secretary of Public Safety, Marshall has responsibility for the oversight of 14 agencies and over 22,000 employees, including the Department of Corrections, Virginia National Guard and the Virginia State Police. Prior to his appointment by Governor Kaine, Marshall was appointed Secretary of Public Safety by Governor Mark R. Warner in January 2002. Full Bio


 

Jason EvansColonel Jason T. Evans, Fort Monroe Garrison Commander

Colonel Evans was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised as an Air Force dependent. He was commissioned through Wentworth Military Academy where he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Nebraska. He has a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Webster University and a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. EmbryMs. Ellen P. Embrey is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Health Protection and Readiness in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. She oversees Department-wide efforts to develop and implement policies and programs relating to DoD deployment medicine, force health protection, national disaster support, and medical readiness for 2.3 million Service members.
She directs her Health Affairs and TRICARE Management Activity staffs to proactively initiate policies and programs that address deployment-related health threats to the welfare of U.S. Service members and their families, as well as integrate medical lessons learned from previous conflicts into current policy, doctrine and practice. This dynamic process involves all components of the military health care system, emphasizing the relationship between military medicine and the fighting forces it supports. The health care policies and programs overseen or developed under Ms. Embrey’s direction have ensured the health care needs were met for the more than 1.4 million Service members who have deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom since 2001, as well as providing comprehensive deployment health information to their families. Scott

Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott began serving his eighth term as a Member of Congress on January 4, 2007.  Prior to serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Scott served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1978 to 1983 and in the Senate of Virginia from 1983 to 1993.
During his 15-year tenure in the Virginia General Assembly, Rep. Scott successfully sponsored laws that are critical to Virginians in healthcare, education, employment, economic development, crime prevention, social services and consumer protection.  His legislative successes included laws that improved healthcare benefits for women, infants and children, increased the Virginia minimum wage and created the Governor’s Employment and Training Council.  He also sponsored the Neighborhood Assistance Act, which provides tax credits to businesses for donations made to approved social service and crime prevention programs. Terrie Suit

Terrie Suit was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates on November 2, 1999. She represents the 81^st district, which includes the southeast portion of Virginia Beach and the portion of Chesapeake south of Great Bridge. Colonel Jenny HolbertColonel Jenny M. Holbert
U.S. Marine Corps

Jenny Burdick Holbert enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1978, and attained the rank of corporal as a photojournalist at Quantico, VA, before her commissioning as a second lieutenant in 1979.

Second Lieutenant Holbert served as a deputy disbursing officer with 3rd Force Service Support Group at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, and Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, CA, from 1980-1984. Captain Holbert transferred to Quantico, VA, and was the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer, Development Center Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion; Adjutant, Security Battalion; and Head, Visitor Control, Marine Corps Base Quantico, until her discharge in 1987. Bill NashWilliam P. Nash, MD, Captain, Medical Corps , United States Navy

Bill Nash was commissioned in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in 1978, after he graduated with a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago . His subsequent post-graduate training included an internship in surgery from 1978 to 1979, and a residency in psychiatry from 1982 to 1985, both at Naval Medical Center , San Diego . In addition to a tour as a naval flight surgeon, Dr. Nash served at Camp Pendleton , Portsmouth , Bremerton , and San Diego in several clinical, teaching, and leadership positions, including as the head of two Navy SPRINT (Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention) teams and the director of two Navy psychiatry residency programs. Harold Kudler, MD,

Harold Kudler, MD, Manager, VISN 6 Mental Health Service Line and Duke University

Dr. Kudler received his M.D. from Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and completed psychiatric residency training at Yale University where he served as Chief Resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital and, later, as Chief Resident/Clinical Instructor at the Yale Psychiatric Institute. He joined the Duke Faculty in 1984 and is Associate Clinical Professor in its Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Having served as Assistant Chief of Psychiatry at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center for a number of years, Dr. Kudler is now Mental Health Coordinator for Veterans Integrated Service Network, Number 6. George LambGeorge Lamb

George Lamb served 16 years in the United States Marine Corps.  During his tour he was deployed to the Far East in the Gulf War as part of the rapid deployment force, staying until the end. 

As well, he spent in total 3 years in Japan as a unit deployment.  George was also with NATO in support of Operation deny flight Bosnia/Herzegovina.  After serving honorably and medically discharged from the Marine Corps he attended the University of South Carolina.  While there he earned an Undergraduate degree, majoring in Psychology and Sociology.  During that time he worked as a work-study employee for the Department of Veterans Affairs with the Beaufort County Veterans’ Affairs office.   He continued his educational pursuit at USC, and earned a Masters of Social Work degree in May 2000.  George started working at the VA in Northport, NY in July 2000, with the Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM).  
In 2006 he became Richmond VAMC’s OIF/OEF Outreach coordinator in addition he also works with the Polytraumatic Patients in the Polytrauma Network Site in Richmond.

 


 

Lisa MeunierLisa N. Meunier, retired Captain, United States Navy, has had a variety of leadership and management tours in her 26 year career.  In her position as Deputy for Reserve Manpower in the office of Chief of Navy Reserve, she was the architect of the Navy’s active duty and reserve manpower systems consolidation that significantly improved Navy planners’ ability to identify mobilization assets for wartime requirements.  As head of manpower and personnel for the Naval Reserve from 2000-2004, she was the prime spokesperson for the Naval Reserve regarding manpower and personnel policies for mobilization and demobilization of Reservists during the initial phases of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.  In her final Navy tour, she was the head of Global Force Management (Manpower branch) at Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, VA. 
    Retiring in 2006, Ms. Meunier now resides in Smithfield, VA with her husband, Francois, who is a retired Canadian Forces officer.  Ms. Meunier holds a BA from the University of California, Davis and a Masters from the US Navy War College, Newport, RI.  Her son, Alex Gutierrez, is a Sergeant in the Army Reserve and currently is serving a second tour in Iraq as a team leader of a Psychological Operations team. 


KearneyRoss A. Kearney II, has served as the Mayor of Hampton, Virginia since 2004. He has been a member of the Hampton City Council since July of 1992 and served as Vice Mayor from 1996-1998.

Mayor Kearney has also served leadership roles on numerous regional governance bodies to include the Hampton Roads Tunnel Authority, the Hampton Roads Regional Jail Authority, the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance and the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance. woodsChristine Woods recently retired as a National Consultant for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Services with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA). In that capacity she served as a relentless veterans’ advocate and a driving force behind the nationwide advancement of recovery-oriented psychosocial rehabilitative services for veterans with serious mental illness and addictions. 

Her efforts were recognized by receipt of the 2006 President’s Award from the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, and she continues her work on behalf of America’s Veterans through independent consulting and volunteer activities. Chris’ passion is for ensuring that our nation’s veterans receive state-of-the-art psychosocial rehabilitation services directed towards the goal of recovery. arrow
